Choose to Believe the Truth About Yourself

“When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” – Wayne Dyer

Think about the power behind your internal belief system – the creed you hold on to that speaks truth into your life.  What we believe about ourselves, our convictions, our role in relationships, and our purpose in this world becomes the solid foundation on which we build a life filled with impact, joy, and accomplishment.

When you contemplate the power of those beliefs and then begin to analyze how some of them were shaped and formed, you come to the realization that many are based in error, misunderstanding or through ill-fated circumstances.

A small group of elementary school children can tease, berate, and bully another child to such a point that it influences how they see themselves the rest of their life.  Yet, when you think about the origin of this belief, it starts with a group of six year olds – none mentally capable of judging character or wise enough to see the beauty and uniqueness of another.

The drunken father, in an intense state of inebriation and intoxication, can say things to his daughter that affect how she sees herself the rest of her life.  What this woman sees as truth about who she is and her value has been formed from someone who can barely walk across the floor – say nothing about make a sound mental judgement, articulate truth, or speak from a place of love or reason.

We let the lustful, infatuated spouse who left drive our internal self-concept – how we see our value within a relationship.  We allow the supervisor at work who let us go, pressured by corporate profits and other outside influences, to make us feel like we no longer contribute anything of worth.  We let the devastating storm that destroyed our home, the untimely death, or the debilitating accident shape our views about God, what He is all about, or if He even exists.

Think hard today about what you are choosing to believe – about yourself, your life, your relationships, and your circumstances.  Challenge how those beliefs were formed – how they originated and became part of what you hold onto as truth.  Has your own ego misled you?  Have you let one event in life formulate your belief system for the remainder of it? Has another damaged, imperfect human being manipulated what you are choosing to believe today?

More importantly, begin the process of changing and reshaping what you believe based on facts, truth, and actualities – not on someone’s flawed opinion, on one small moment in time, or on one particular set of circumstances.

One way of doing this is by speaking truth into your life each day – programming your belief system in order to support the life we mentioned earlier that is meant to be joyful, full of impact, and overflowing with accomplishments.

“I am unique and special.  There is no one else on earth like me.” (Psalm 139:13-16)

“I have a destiny – one filled with purpose and meaning.” (Jeremiah 29:11 and Psalm 40:5)

“All things work together for my ultimate good and for the good of others.” (Romans 8:28)

“I love and forgive easily and quickly – just as I am loved and forgiven.” (Ephesians 4:32)

“I use my words to promote healing, encouragement, and truth in my life and the lives of others.” (Proverbs 16:24 and Proverbs 12:25)

“I see myself exactly as God sees me.” (Isaiah 43:1-2)

“I see the light of God shining in the eyes of everyone I meet.” (1 Peter 2:9-10)

“I can do all things through God’s strength to accomplish His purposes for me here.” (Philippians 4:12-13)

“I believe in miracles that can change my life at any moment.” (Psalm 77: 13-14)

“I positively influence the lives of everyone I encounter through my words and actions.” (Proverbs 15:4)

“My prayers are impactful and meaningful.” (James 5: 15-16)

Be consciously aware of the power behind your beliefs and how they can at times be shaped by fickle, superficial things.  Guard them with diligence – not allowing lies, deceit or flawed humanity to negatively influence them.

Choose to believe the truth about yourself.  Choose to believe you are here for a very special purpose.  Choose to believe that a miracle can surface within your life at any moment.   Affirm those truths everyday out loud.

CHOOSE what to believe TODAY…..and watch your life begin to change 🙂

God bless!
