Our Perspective on Everything

Everything – all that exists, all that relates to the subject, all that is important. (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

“Everything in my life is going wrong right now. I don’t know what to do, but it’s overwhelming!”

My relationship isn’t what it used to be.  We fight about everything lately.”

Everything in this world is turning worse by the day!  Everything is so far gone, I don’t think we’ll ever be the same country again.”

“I just hate everything about my job!  It’s a struggle going to work every day!”

For those who don’t know me well, one very bad habit I have surrounds my perspective on everything.  One thing can develop into everything quickly for me.

As an example, if one thing in my life is troublesome, it can quickly turn into everything becoming one big problem.  In my mind, the whole thing is wrong, off course and going south.  Exaggeration takes over my thoughts – magnifying and amplifying one small detail or aspect of life and turning it into what the aggregate and entirety of my existence represents.

How about you?  Can you relate to a skewed view of everything?  Has one negative aspect of your relationship made it seem like every aspect of it is wrong?  Have a few problems ended up defining the entirety of your life?  Is your perspective on “everything” tainted and false?

When I need the humanness of my mind renewed, I spend some quiet time focusing on what the Scriptures tell us about “everything” from a spiritual perspective:

EVERYTHING goes through His Loving Sovereignty

“For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory.”  – Romans 11:36 NLT

“Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” – Matthew 19:26 NLT

“Who among all these does not recognize [in all these things that good and evil are randomly scattered throughout nature and human life] That the hand of the LORD has done this, in whose hand is the life of every living thing, And the breath of all mankind?”  – Job 12: 9-10 Amplified BibleWhen everything seems wrong or everything seems to be falling apart, we need to remind ourselves that God is in control of it all.  Nothing happens to us that hasn’t been instigated or allowed by Him.  Since everything happens under God’s sovereign control, then all of it has purpose and no situation becomes impossible or beyond remedy.

EVERTHING Works for our Good

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” – Romans 8:28 NLT

For God’s children, there are no random, fate-filled outcomes.  Each circumstance and situation you face turns out good in the end.  Not some circumstances, but EVERY circumstance 😊

EVERYTHING has been both Known and Forgiven

“O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.” – Psalm 139:1 NLT

“But God made you alive with Christ when he forgave all our failures.

I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.” – Jeremiah 1:5 NLT

“Yet where sin was powerful, God’s gift of undeserved grace was even more powerful.” – Romans 5:20 CEV

Your life is no surprise to God.  He knows everything about you from beginning to end!  Nothing you have done or will ever do can diminish His grace and forgiveness!

EVERYTHING about your life is planned with Purpose and Intention

The LORD will fulfill His purpose for me. O LORD, Your loving devotion endures forever!” – Psalm 138:8 BSB

For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the LORD, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jerimiah 29:11 Amplified Bible

“A man’s heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps. – Proverbs 16:9 NKJV

All things are done according to God’s plan and decision…. “  – Ephesians 1:11 GNT

When everything seems to be spinning out of control, we need to remember that God is working out His good plans and purposes for us – plans that are filled with peace and hope!

There is a Season for EVERYTHING

There is a season (a time appointed) for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heaven.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1 Amplified Bible

There is an ebb and flow to life – ever-changing and evolving.  These seasons (both good and bad) have a purposeful intention connected to them.  When everything seems to be falling apart, get ready for a change of seasons 😊 Realize the difficult seasons of life are only temporary, but fulfill a definitive function and intent – designed by the Creator for your ultimate good.

We need to Pray about EVERYTHING

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done.” – Philippians 4:6 NLT

“Continually be prayerful.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:17 ISV

Prayer moves us closer to God – especially during the times of our lives when everything seems lost or hopeless.  I love how we are encouraged to talk to God about EVERYTHING – the hardships, the blessings, the good times and the bad.  A continual, prayerful mindset changes us in ways we can’t imagine.

Tonight, if you’re in a place where everything seems to be going wrong for you, I hope you take a moment to contemplate your perspective when it comes to “everything” – looking with purpose for points of exaggeration while seeking truth and balance.

Take some quiet time to gain a spiritual perspective – meditating on what “The God of EVERYTHING” has to say about the subject 😊

“Certainly, “The earth is the Lord’s and everything it contains is His. – 1 Corinthians 10:26 GOD’S WORD Translation

Everything is under control.  Everything is unfolding with purpose and intention – all working together for your good.  Everything about you has been known before time and every mistake has been forgiven long ago.

Thank God He is in EVERYTHING 😊
