“How long, O Lord, must I call for help?” – Habakkuk 1:2 NLT
“Every day I call to you, my God, but you do not answer. Every night you hear my voice, but I find no relief.” – Psalm 22:2 NLT
“O Lord, why do you stand so far away? Why do you hide when I need you the most?” – Psalm 10:1 NLT
My personal prayers to God are often filled with questions: Where do I need to be right now God? What do you want me to do? Why is all this happening? Who should I help or who should I keep close?
In the past several years, the driving question for me has been “when”: When will things finally start falling into place God? When will you vindicate me? When will the healing be complete? When will my heart-felt dreams become a reality? How much longer God will I have to wait?
How about you? Do you have a lot of “when” type questions for God? What are you waiting for to transpire or come to fruition in your own life?
I’ve been meditating on the concept of when, the timing behind it, and all that is required for “when” to ultimately unfold into “now”.
At the heart of when is omniscience – God’s ability to fully understand the past, present, and future which allows Him to act at the precise time. The Bible says, “as for God His way is perfect” (Psalm 18:30) – meaning we can trust an omniscient God for “when” to unfold at the exact time in needs to with a level of perfection that only God can see and understand in the current moment.
We all want our “when” to arrive at the best time – not too early or too late. Omniscience instigates providence – God’s working behind the scenes within all aspects of our lives for our ultimate good. You see, my friend, if God knows when the perfect time will arrive, He can effectually begin to work providentially behind the scenes now – laying all the necessary groundwork in place for the perfect “when” to unfold 😊
So then…. Is “when” strictly driven by God – by His omniscience and providence? Is there anything we can do to impact the timing of “when” things unfold?
Today, we can decide to commit our way obediently and humbly to God.
“Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him and He will help you. He will make your innocence as clear as dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun.” – Psalm 37: 5-7 NLT
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
Today, we can have faith He is at work in our lives.
“And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed of your affliction.” – Mark 5:34 NKJV
“Jesus said to him, “[You say to Me,] ‘If You can?’ All things are possible for the one who believes and trusts [in Me]!” – Mark 9:23 Amplified Bible
Today, we can surrender our “when” to Him.
“Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and He will provide you with all these other things.” – Matthew 6:33 GNT
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” – Proverbs 3: 5-6 NLT
Remember…. Omniscience is at the heart of “when” 😊
God knows when your faith will rise to the level that prompts His actions. He knows when you will surrender the outcome to Him. He knows when your heart is ready and when you will trust in Him despite what transpires.
Could when be today? Could perfect timing be waiting on you?
May you deeply trust God with all your “when” questions and may you insightfully begin to realize your own role in God’s perfect timing at work in your life 😊
God bless!
